Overview
Not a pair of loose stems, the occiam earbuds wrap over the ear with soft hooks so they stay put while running. Opening the case wakes them through a hall switch and reconnects to the last device, and a button on each bud handles music, volume and calls.
Run time is the story, since the case refills both buds many times and a single bud can carry a long shift on its own. Ear hooks hold well during exercise, though they take more room in a pocket than plain buds.
Who it's for
Workouts, sweaty runs and noisy subway rides suit a hooked bud with cancelling. People who want the smallest case for a jeans pocket should choose a stemless design.
Pros and cons
- Ear hooks hold during running
- Single bud mode for long shifts
- Case shows remaining power digitally
- Opens and pairs from the case
- Hooks can clash with glasses
- Case is bulky for a pocket
- Bluetooth version not listed
- No app or EQ mentioned
Performance notes
Cancelling works most effectively on steady background noise such as train rumble, and the ear tip seal decides how much gets through, so the right tip size matters. Battery life stretches when one bud plays while the other charges. Range holds within the stated distance, and walls or a phone in a back pocket shorten it.
