Overview
A collapsible bait trap for catching live bait such as minnows, crawfish and shrimp, built from polyethylene mesh and sized about 15.7 by 11.8 inches for shore or dock use.
Traps like this work by luring bait through funnel openings that make it hard for catches to swim back out once inside. At 0.57 kilograms it is light enough to carry to a pond or dock edge and drop with a length of rope. Because it ships as a single unit, anglers who want a spare for backup should plan to buy two.
- Polyethylene mesh construction
- 15.7 x 11.8 inch footprint
- 0.57 kg (about 1.25 lb)
- Sold as 1 trap
Who it's for
Suits anglers who catch their own bait rather than buying it at a shop, particularly for freshwater panfish, catfish or crawfish.
Pros and cons
- Compact folding design for easy transport
- Covers common bait types: crawfish, shrimp, minnows
- Sold as a single trap, not a set
- No data on mesh gauge or funnel count
Performance notes
Success with a bait trap comes down to placement and the bait or scent used inside the cage rather than the trap itself, so results vary by water body and target species.
