Overview
Coast's XPH30R is a rechargeable headlamp that reaches up to 1200 lumens in turbo mode, using a twist-focus optic to shift between flood and spot beams without the halo rings some fixed lenses leave, and it detaches into a magnetic handheld light.
The twist-focus system is the reason to look at this one over a fixed-beam headlamp: turning the lens ring adjusts throw and spread from the same LED rather than swapping modes with a button. USB-C charging plus a magnetic base for hands-free use on a metal surface covers both trail lighting and shop or garage work with one unit.
- 1200 lumen turbo mode
- Twist focus flood-to-spot optic
- Magnetic detachable head unit
- USB-C dual power rechargeable
Who it's for
Suits campers, hikers and anyone doing mechanical or repair work who wants a light that works on the head or stuck to metal. Less suited to someone who only needs a simple low-lumen light for walking the dog, since the turbo mode and twist optic add cost and bulk a basic headlamp does not need.
Pros and cons
- Detaches into a handheld magnetic flashlight
- Twist focus adjusts beam without switching modes
- Turbo mode hits 1200 lumens
- Turbo brightness runs down fast per the runtime table
- IP54 resists splashes, not full submersion
Performance notes
Turbo mode draws 1200 lumens for short bursts, dropping to 500 on high (6.75 hours), 160 on medium (10 hours) and 46 on low (28 hours), so runtime scales down sharply as brightness climbs. The IP54 rating covers splashing water and dust but not submersion, and the body is rated for a 1-meter drop.
