Uniflasy Cooking Grid Grates

Overview

Uniflasy's cast iron cooking grid is a replacement grate built for charcoal grills, sold in a black finish. It is meant to swap in for a worn or rusted stock grate rather than serve as a standalone product.

Cast iron holds heat differently than the thin steel wire that ships with many charcoal kettles, so expect firmer grill marks once the metal is seasoned. That same iron also rusts if left wet, so a light oil coating after each cookout matters more here than with chrome or stainless grates. The listing gives overall dimensions rather than a single-grate size, so measure your kettle's current grate before ordering.

• Cast iron construction

• Black finish
• Sold as a replacement grid, not a full grill

Who it's for

Charcoal grill owners replacing a rusted or warped factory grate. Not for gas or pellet grills, since the fuel type is listed as charcoal only.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Cast iron takes longer to heat than thin steel wire but holds that heat more evenly once hot, which helps with searing over charcoal. It needs periodic oiling to resist rust, more upkeep than a stainless or porcelain-coated grate. The listing describes the grid as black, so expect the surface tone to match darker cast iron cookware rather than a bright metal look.
