Overview
The Makita XAG25Z is a battery powered angle grinder built for a top no-load speed of 8500 RPM and a rated motor output of 350 watts. The Z in the model code is Makita's marking for a bare tool, so the battery and charger are sold separately.
Cordless angle grinders trade outlet dependence for battery runtime, and this one runs on Makita's cordless platform rather than a cord. Because it ships bare, buyers already invested in Makita batteries get the most value, while anyone starting fresh needs to budget for a battery and charger on top of the tool price. The listed weight of 16 ounces is notably light for the category.
- 8500 RPM no-load speed
- 350 watt rated motor power
- Bare tool (battery and charger not included)
- 16 ounce listed weight
Who it's for
Suited to owners who already have Makita batteries on hand and want a fast-spinning grinder for cutting, grinding or surface prep without a cord in the way. Less suited to first-time buyers who need a complete kit out of the box.
Pros and cons
- Rated top speed of 8500 RPM
- Cordless operation for job-site flexibility
- Compact listed weight of 16 ounces
- Bare tool, no battery or charger included
- No stated voltage compatibility for the battery platform
Performance notes
Top speed is rated at 8500 RPM, giving the disc enough rotational force for cutting and grinding tasks. The 350 watt motor rating reflects what a battery driven grinder delivers rather than a corded unit's continuous output, so real-world performance tracks battery charge and cell condition over the tool's life.
