Overview
Switching between full noise cancelling and an aware mode that lets outside sound in is the core of the Bose QuietComfort over ear headphones. Tiny mics measure outside noise and cancel it with opposite signals, while a cable lets them run wired when the battery is out.
Comfort over long sessions is what Bose built them for, with plush synthetic leather, light clamping force and glass filled nylon. Audio detail is thin in the listing, with no driver size or codec named, so sound claims rest on the brand alone.
Who it's for
Long haul travelers and commuters who want quiet without a sore head get light clamping and a battery that lasts the trip. Gym users and spec chasers comparing drivers and codecs should look at a sport model or a fuller spec sheet.
Pros and cons
- Light clamping force for long wear
- Aware mode lets outside sound in
- Quick charge for short trips
- Wired mode when battery runs out
- Driver size not listed
- Codec support unstated
- Battery figures differ in listing
- Multipoint pairing unstated
Performance notes
Noise cancelling works by microphones sampling outside sound and playing an opposite signal, which suits steady drones like engines more than sudden voices. Active EQ adjusts tone with volume so bass does not fade when turned down.
