Overview
A slim, matte finished neck and lower string tension make the Yamaha URBAN guitar gentler on new fingertips. Lessons come through an interactive app curated by Keith Urban, which also works as a tuner, and a strap and plectrums are in the box.
Built in structure for learning is the reason to buy: the app walks through songs while the guitar stays easy to press. A gig bag and onboard electronics are not included, so carrying and amplifying it need separate purchases.
Who it's for
First time players, especially country fans, get a playable guitar and lessons in one purchase. Gigging players and anyone needing onboard electronics should look at an acoustic-electric.
Pros and cons
- Lesson app with real songs
- Built in app tuner
- Easy playing slim neck
- Lower string tension
- No gig bag listed
- Neck width not listed
- App needed for lessons
Performance notes
Lower tension strings and a slim neck reduce the pressure needed to fret chords, which is what helps beginners get past sore fingers. Coated strings resist corrosion, so tone stays brighter longer between changes.
