Overview
Retro collectors with original NES cartridges get a console that plays them in HD on a modern TV. The RetroN reads both NTSC and PAL carts, with PAL titles enabled by a switch.
Original carts run on current TVs without an old console or adapter chain. Nothing comes preloaded, so a buyer without cartridges has nothing to play.
Who it's for
Players who kept their NES cartridges or buy them used can run them on an HD set. Someone who wants a plug and play box of classic titles should look at a mini console with games installed.
Pros and cons
- Plays original NES cartridges
- Supports NTSC and PAL carts
- HD output for modern TVs
- Long controller cable for couch play
- No games or cartridges included
- Color listed as black and white
- Number of controllers unclear in listing
Performance notes
Compatibility depends on the cartridge itself, and the listing claims high but not complete coverage of titles. PAL carts need the region switch set before play. Picture clarity on large screens follows the HD output and your TV scaler.
