Overview
Running long miles over rocks and roots is what the Altra Olympus is built for, with a tall, maximum cushioned platform and a treaded rubber sole. A mesh upper and lace-up fit complete a low-top trail shoe.
Deep cushioning protects legs on long trail days and descents. The spec sheet lists it as waterproof, which is unusual for a mesh upper, so treat that claim with care.
Who it's for
Ultra distances and long trail days suit a max-cushion shoe. Technical scramblers wanting precise footing may find the stack high.
Pros and cons
- Treaded rubber outsole
- Lace-up low top
- Drop and outsole details missing
- Waterproof claim unclear on mesh
- Tall stack reduces ground feel
Performance notes
A thick EVA stack absorbs repeated impact over rocks, which delays leg fatigue on long runs. The treaded sole grips loose dirt. Higher stack means less stability on off-camber ground.
