Overview
The Britax E1C233C is a forward facing seat built for kids, rated to a 120 pound weight capacity and installed using the vehicle's seat belt rather than LATCH anchors. Foam construction lines the shell, and the seat itself weighs about 12 pounds.
A 120 pound ceiling and belt-only installation put this closer to a booster style seat for older children than an infant or convertible seat that installs with LATCH. Dimensions run 16 by 21 by 27.5 inches, and no harness or booster mode details are given beyond that.
- 120 pound weight capacity
- Forward facing orientation
- Seat belt installation
- 12 pound seat weight
Who it's for
Parents of kids old enough for a forward facing seat who install with a seat belt rather than LATCH. It isn't a fit for infants or for families who specifically want LATCH installation.
Pros and cons
- High 120 pound weight capacity fits older kids longer
- Seat belt installation works where LATCH anchors are hard to reach
- At 12 pounds it's light enough to move between cars
- No LATCH installation option listed
- Forward facing only, not suited to infants
Performance notes
The foam lined shell is meant to absorb impact energy in a forward facing crash, while seat belt routing secures both the seat and the child instead of relying on LATCH hardware.
