Overview
Swapping a failed A/C compressor on a Compass, Patriot or Caliber is the job this unit is made for, and the clutch comes with it. It compresses refrigerant for the cabin cooling loop and bolts in as the replacement for the original.
The point is a direct replacement with the clutch already on it, sold with a one year guarantee. Coverage is narrow: it pays for the item only, with no labor, towing or other repair expenses, and the listing says little about oil charge or fittings.
Who it's for
Owners and shops fixing air conditioning on the named Jeep and Dodge compact models within the listed years. Anyone outside those model years, or needing labor coverage, should look at other options.
Pros and cons
- Listed vehicle and year fitment
- Rated for silent operation
- One year mileage-unlimited guarantee
- Guarantee covers the part only
- Oil charge not described
- Fitment limited to named models
- Fittings and seals not listed
Performance notes
The compressor pumps refrigerant through the A/C loop, and the clutch engages it only when cooling is called for. Cooling depends on the rest of the system being sound, so a failed condenser or a clogged line will shorten the new unit's life.
