Bugaboo Butterfly Ultra-Compact Stroller

Overview

This Bugaboo umbrella stroller carries children from birth up to 48 months and holds up to 22 kilograms (about 48 pounds). The frame combines a polyester and polyurethane build with a 16.1 pound overall weight, and it does not accept a car seat attachment.

Bugaboo positions this as a standalone stroller rather than part of a travel system, since there is no car seat compatibility listed. The 16.1 pound frame keeps it in umbrella stroller territory for carrying and folding, while the weight capacity stretches well past the age range most umbrella strollers cover. That combination suits parents who already have a separate infant car seat solution and want one stroller that lasts from early months through toddler years.

• Age range 0 to 48 months
• 22 kilogram (about 48 pound) weight capacity
• Polyester and polyurethane construction
• 16.1 pound stroller weight

Who it's for

Parents who need a single stroller to cover a wide age and weight range, from early months through the toddler years, without swapping systems. Not a fit for anyone planning to click in an infant car seat straight from the hospital, since that option is not built in.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The 22 kilogram weight capacity is unusually high for an umbrella class stroller, which typically means the frame and seat are reinforced beyond a standard lightweight design even though the shell stays polyester and polyurethane. At 16.1 pounds it remains light enough to carry folded, a tradeoff that matters more once a toddler is riding in it regularly than it does with a newborn.
