Overview
Beaches, rivers and busy classrooms are where this Kala concert ukulele lives, made from ABS composite with a textured single-color finish. Open geared tuners and Aquila strings make it play properly, and a bag carries it along.
The larger concert size gives a bit more room on the fretboard than a soprano while staying portable. As a plastic instrument it sounds brighter and less rich than wood.
Who it's for
Travelers, campers and music teachers who need an easy-clean uke. Tone-focused players should look at wooden models.
Pros and cons
- Water resistant body
- Concert size room
- Bag described two ways
Performance notes
Composite construction ignores humidity, which steadies tuning outdoors. The concert scale adds string tension and fret spacing that some find easier than soprano.
