Overview
The CRAFTSMAN CMCS551B is a 20V cordless circular saw with a 7.25 inch cutting capacity, weighing 9.3 pounds. The B suffix marks it as a bare tool, sold without battery or charger.
Craftsman's 20V platform targets homeowners and light trade use rather than the heavier duty FlexVolt class saws, and the 7.25 inch blade capacity matches the common size for standard circular saw blades.
- 20V cordless power
- 7.25 inch cutting capacity
- 9.3 pound weight
Who it's for
Homeowners and DIYers already on Craftsman's 20V battery line who want a standard size cordless circular saw. Less suited to daily jobsite use, where a heavier duty platform holds up better.
Pros and cons
- 7.25 inch capacity fits standard circular saw blades
- 9.3 pounds is light for one-handed cuts
- Bare tool, battery and charger sold separately
- 20V platform trails 60V saws on raw power for dense material
Performance notes
At 9.3 pounds the saw is lighter than 60V FlexVolt class saws, which helps one-handed control on overhead or angled cuts, though it also means less raw cutting power for thick or dense stock. The metal build targets durability at the housing and base plate.
