Overview
Dr.Fish spider weights are unpainted lead sinkers sold in a 5-pack at 3 ounces each, for a total listed weight of about 0.42 kilograms.
Spider weights, also called spider hooks or claw sinkers, use bent wire legs that grip the bottom to hold bait in place in current, which sets them apart from plain egg or bank sinkers. Left unpainted, the lead finish is functional rather than color-matched to conditions.
- Brand: Dr.Fish
- Weight: 3 oz each
- Pack count: 5
- Finish: unpainted lead
Who it's for
Surf and current anglers who need weights that anchor bait against strong flow. Not for still-water or light-tackle finesse fishing where a plain sinker would do.
Pros and cons
- Wire legs grip bottom in current or surf
- 5-pack of 3 ounce weights covers multiple rigs
- Unpainted lead has no color option
- Lead construction requires normal handling care
Performance notes
The wire legs on a spider weight dig into sand or gravel and flex open on a strong tug, which lets the sinker anchor bait in moving water yet still release for retrieval, a mechanism plain bank or egg sinkers do not have.
