Overview
A USB-C plug with two card slots does the work here, reading a full size SD card or a Micro SD card without a separate adapter. It needs no driver, and it uses a bus port for both power and data.
The reason to buy is a pocket reader that handles both card sizes over the faster interface used by modern laptops and phones. The limit is that dimensions are not stated and the media list in the specs does not match the two slots described in the title.
Who it's for
Laptop and tablet users with a USB-C port who shoot to SD or Micro SD cards will get the most from it. Anyone relying on an older card type or a USB-A only computer should confirm compatibility first.
Pros and cons
- Reads SD and Micro SD cards
- Supports UHS-II cards
- No driver install needed
- Light enough for a camera bag
- Media type list conflicts with slot description
- USB-C only connection
- Dimensions not listed
Performance notes
The card, not the reader, usually sets the real speed, because UHS-II cards use an extra row of pins that UHS-I cards lack. The interface speed is the ceiling the reader allows. A host port that is slower than the reader will lower the result.
