Overview
The AFI Northfield is a solid wood and veneer chest that folds down into a full-size bed, shipping with its own 6 inch mattress so nothing extra needs sourcing before it can be slept on. Built-in USB charging and a large bottom drawer round it out as a space-saving guest bed in chest form.
Closed, the chest measures 22.75 by 55.13 by 41.75 inches; open, it extends to 74.63 by 55.63 by 41.75 inches, rated for 800 lbs. The bottom storage drawer alone runs 47 inches wide by 15.75 inches deep.
- Chest folds into a full-size bed
- 6 inch layered foam mattress included
- 9 foot cord with 2 USB charging ports
- 800 lb weight capacity
Who it's for
Suits a guest room, studio apartment or home office where a bed needs to disappear into furniture when not in use. Less useful for anyone who already owns a full mattress they want to keep, since this one ships with its own.
Pros and cons
- Full-size mattress included (6 inch, layered foam)
- Folds closed into a compact 22.75 by 55.13 inch chest
- Built-in charging station with 2 USB ports
- 47 inch wide bottom storage drawer
- Fixed at full mattress size only
- Open footprint needs real floor clearance to fold out
- Walnut finish only, no other color option mentioned
Performance notes
The chest converts from a closed footprint of 22.75 by 55.13 by 41.75 inches to an open sleeping footprint of 74.63 by 55.63 by 41.75 inches, rated to hold up to 800 lbs. A built-in power source with a 9 foot cord and 2 USB ports lets it double as a charging point once open.
