Overview
Contigo built the Leighton tumbler around a straw valve that opens when a child drinks and closes between sips, so tipped cups do not leak. Two themed cups come in the set.
Leak-proof straw drinking for preschoolers and older kids cuts down on spills in cars and backpacks. The care instructions in the specs contradict the dishwasher claim, so check the cup itself.
Who it's for
School lunches, car rides and outings suit a straw cup that seals itself. Infants and young toddlers need a smaller training cup.
Pros and cons
- Self-closing spill-proof valve
- Comes apart for cleaning
- Two cups per pack
- Ages three and up only
- Care instructions conflict
- For cold drinks only
- Straw valves need regular scrubbing
Performance notes
The valve stays shut until a child bites or sucks, then closes again, which is why a dropped cup does not leak. Taking the lid and straw apart lets water reach the valve where residue collects. Hot liquids are not listed as a use.
