Overview
Speediance's Gym Monster is a freestanding smart cable system with dual direct-drive engines, up to 220 lbs of digital resistance, and no wall mounting or drilling required. A touchscreen runs guided programs alongside a Bluetooth-connected ring that controls resistance.
The more serious complaint is the required Bluetooth finger remote, which one buyer said failed after only a few uses and could not be returned past Amazon's window.
- Up to 220 lbs of adjustable digital resistance
- 700+ moves and 300+ guided classes
- Touchscreen with built-in digital weight system
- Ski mode with two handles and 10 height settings
Who it's for
Households replacing a gym membership with functional strength training at home are the clear target, particularly where wall drilling isn't an option. Buyers chasing pure bodybuilding overload beyond 220 lbs, or anyone wary of relying on a Bluetooth accessory to start a workout, should think twice.
Pros and cons
- No wall mounting or drilling needed
- High mounting points allow lat pulldowns
- Guided programs work without a paid subscription
- Small footprint compared to a home gym rack
- Bluetooth remote required and reportedly failure-prone
- Cables can fray or snap if mishandled
- Extension straps needed but not included
Performance notes
The system depends on a Bluetooth finger ring to operate, so a dead or failed ring stops a session, as one reviewer experienced.
