Overview
Scanning for heat signatures, this Pulsar monocular uses a thermal imager rather than a light-gathering lens, and focuses by hand. A thread mount adds support, and the listing says it pairs with smartphones and tablets.
The kit is well covered, with a battery pack, a spare compartment cover, a power adapter, a cable, a case and a hand strap. Sensor resolution and detection distance are missing from the listing, and those are what decide how far it can spot a target.
Who it's for
A night user scanning fields, trails or a property line who wants a handheld viewer with a thread mount. Anyone expecting a conventional night vision image should note this shows heat, not amplified light.
Pros and cons
- Full accessory kit included
- Tripod thread mount
- Pairs with smartphones and tablets
- Detection range not listed
- Sensor resolution not listed
- Heavier than a pocket viewer
- Lens description reads as unknown
Performance notes
A thermal imager shows temperature differences, so a warm animal reads clearly against cool ground even in total darkness. Fog, glass and heavy rain reduce what it can see, and the sensor, not the objective, sets how much detail you get.
