Overview
Amazon Basics' 4-bay NiMH charger tops off AA or AAA cells one at a time rather than in matched pairs, with a fold-flat plug rated for 100-240V power and an LED status light per slot. Built for households already using rechargeable AA/AAA batteries in remotes and toys.
This is a charger only, not a battery bundle, so you supply your own NiMH cells; NiCd is not supported despite what similar chargers on the market advertise. The worldwide voltage rating is a genuine travel feature, though you need your own plug adapter outside North America since only the folding US plug ships in the box.
- 4 independent charging bays with per-battery LED status
- Full 4-AA charge in about 7 hours, 4-AAA in about 4 hours
- Detects wrong battery polarity before charging starts
- Worldwide 100-240V switching power supply
Who it's for
Fits anyone already invested in Amazon's rechargeable AA/AAA line, or households running through disposable batteries in remotes, controllers and flashlights. Less suited to anyone who also uses NiCd cells or wants a charger with a built-in power cable rather than a direct wall plug.
Pros and cons
- Charges each AA/AAA cell on its own circuit, not in matched pairs
- Automatically switches to trickle charge once a cell is full
- Folds flat and runs on 100-240V for travel
