Overview
Not a wireless gamepad, the Backbone One plugs straight into an iPhone's USB-C port and wraps around the phone like a handheld console. The listing itself gives little beyond the connector, weight and warranty.
A wired USB-C link suits newer iPhones and holds input lag low. The listing is thin, and its specs mislabel color and platform, so confirm details with the brand.
Who it's for
Mobile gamers with USB-C iPhones who stream or play iOS games will gain proper controls. Lightning iPhone owners need the Lightning edition.
Pros and cons
- Direct USB-C connection
- Console style layout
- Two year warranty
- Listing details sparse
- Specs contradict title color
- Lightning iPhones not supported
- Supported apps not listed
Performance notes
A direct USB-C connection avoids wireless pairing and lag. Fit depends on the phone size and case, which the listing does not detail. Game support depends on apps that accept controller input.
