Overview
A listener who hates the plugged feeling of tips gets a semi-in-ear bud that rests in the outer ear. Touch controls handle playback, volume and calls, the app customizes those taps and the sound, and a Game Mode is on hand for play.
Comfort without tips is the reason to choose them, along with a deep EQ menu in the app. The semi-open shape cannot block a noisy bus, so music competes with the world around you.
Who it's for
Long listening days at a desk, calls from home and casual gaming suit a light tipless bud. Flyers and subway riders who need silence should look at an active noise cancelling model.
Pros and cons
- No ear tips to press the ear canal
- Fast top-up charge
- Deep EQ options in the app
- Game Mode for play
- No active noise cancelling
- Open fit leaks outside noise
- Water rating not given as a number
- Bass limited by the open seal
Performance notes
Without a sealing tip, the bud cannot trap low notes or block traffic, so bass and isolation depend on how the shell rests in your ear. Environmental noise cancellation works on the microphones only, isolating your voice for the caller. BassUp and the app EQ can lift low end to make up some of the difference.
