Overview
Not a whole engine or a deck part, this is a replacement electric starter written for the Kohler series named in the listing. It bolts to the engine and spins the flywheel until the engine fires.
Worth a look when a Kohler Courage twin cranks slowly or not at all and the old unit shows a matching part number. The listing is bare, so the tooth count and the mounting pattern are left for you to confirm against the old starter.
Who it's for
A mower with a Kohler twin engine that will not crank is the setting here. Owners of other engine brands, or anyone unable to match the part number, should look at a listing with a fitment chart.
Pros and cons
- Matches the Kohler series in the title
- Carbon steel construction
- Electrical ratings are stated
- Single starter supplied
- Tooth count not listed
- No bullets or description provided
- Brand shown only as Generic
Performance notes
A starter turns the flywheel through a small drive gear until the engine fires, so the gear tooth count and the bolt pattern decide whether it engages. The ratings describe the electrical side, and battery and cable condition set how well it cranks.
