Overview
High-torque motorized platters spin under the hands, giving the RANE Performer a vinyl-style feel across its four decks. A built-in mixer section with the MAG FOUR crossfader and Precision Feel volume faders drives Serato DJ Pro from a laptop over USB.
Motorized platters, stem controls and effects put hands-on performance tools on one surface, with Serato DJ Pro, DVS and streaming access included. Weight and footprint are the limit: carrying it to gigs takes effort, and the audio connections are not spelled out in the listing.
Who it's for
Performers who build sets around platter work, stem splits and effects get the full tool set here. Mobile DJs packing light, or anyone without a laptop to run Serato, should look at other gear.
Pros and cons
- Motorized platters give a turntable-like feel
- Serato DJ Pro with DVS included
- Stem split controls for live remixing
- Four Precision Feel volume faders
- Heavy to carry between gigs
- Large footprint needs a wide table
- Audio inputs and outputs not listed
- Corded power only
Performance notes
Platter feel depends on the high-torque motors, which drive the platters so hand movement on them steers playback. Fader feel comes from the MAG FOUR crossfader and the Precision Feel volume faders. Track handling, stems and effects run through Serato DJ Pro on the connected laptop, so laptop stability governs the session.
