Overview
OWC built the Envoy Ultra for creators who edit straight from external storage, pairing an NVMe SSD with the newest Thunderbolt link in a sealed aluminum shell. The cable is attached, it draws power from the port, and it has no fan.
Speed rivaling internal storage lets video editors work from the drive without copying files first. Those speeds need a computer with the newest Thunderbolt port; on older ports it runs at whatever they allow.
Who it's for
Creators on newer Macs and PCs who move huge project files will use its speed. Casual backup users can save desk and bag space with a simpler drive.
Pros and cons

Performance notes
Transfer speed is set by the host port: the newest Thunderbolt generation unlocks the top rate, while older Thunderbolt and USB ports run at their own maximum. The aluminum body spreads heat without a fan. A sealed shell protects against dust, drops and rain.
