Overview
Gaiam's wrist and ankle weights are a 1 pound per piece, adjustable Velcro set designed to add resistance to walking, yoga, Pilates or general home workouts. They are sold as a pair and can be worn on either the wrist or ankle by adjusting the closure to fit.
One reviewer with a hand grip weakness from carpal tunnel found the closure had almost too strong a grip, while others simply appreciated how noticeably a small 1 or 2 pound addition changes the feel of a routine.
- 1 pound per weight, sold as a set of 2
- Adjustable Velcro closure
- Soft inner lining for comfort
- Fits either wrist or ankle wear
Who it's for
Suits people wanting light added resistance for walking, yoga, dance or cardio routines rather than serious strength training.
Pros and cons
- Soft inner lining is comfortable against the skin
- Adjustable closure fits both wrist and ankle
- Noticeably adds resistance even at just 1 pound each
- Velcro can feel itchy without a sleeve or sock underneath
- Some discomfort reported on ankles after about 45 minutes
- Velcro grip will wear down with repeated use
Performance notes
Each piece weighs 1 pound, so the pair adds a combined 2 pounds when worn on both limbs, which one reviewer said felt heavier than expected once worn for an hour. The soft inner lining and adjustable Velcro closure let the same pair fit either a wrist or an ankle, tightened or loosened as needed.
