Graco TriRide 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat

Overview

A forward facing, LATCH installed Graco seat rated to 100 lbs, suited to kids past the infant and convertible stage, with a strong rating history behind it.

The age range listed is Kid rather than Newborn or Infant, and installation is LATCH only, which together point to a forward facing seat for children who have outgrown an infant or convertible seat rather than a seat meant to start at birth. A 100 lb weight capacity is high enough to cover many children well into their booster years in one seat. At 18.45 lbs, it sits between the lightest booster shells and the heaviest convertible seats.

• 100 lb weight capacity
• LATCH installation
• 18.45 lb seat weight
• Forward facing, Kid age range

Who it's for

Parents whose child has outgrown an infant or convertible seat and needs a forward facing seat with LATCH installation and a high weight ceiling fit this seat. Families needing a rear facing option for a younger child should look at a different model, since this one is forward facing and Kid rated only.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

LATCH installation anchors the seat directly to the vehicle's built in connectors rather than relying on the seat belt, generally a more consistent install than belt only seats. A 100 lb capacity means the harness and shell are built to hold a child well past toddler size, which is what lets one seat cover more years than a lower capacity model. The polyester cover is standard for this class of seat and not a distinguishing feature on its own.
