Overview
Fender builds the Blues Junior as a compact diatonic harmonica for players starting out. Phosphor bronze reeds riveted over a moisture-resistant ABS comb produce the notes, and an attached lanyard lets it travel with the player.
Portability is its strongest point: the mini size and lanyard make practice possible anywhere. Being locked to C limits it, since songs in other keys need a separate harmonica.
Who it's for
New players who want something to carry everywhere and learn simple blues and pop lines will get on with it. Players who need several keys from one instrument should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Moisture-resistant ABS comb
- Riveted phosphor bronze reeds
- Attached lanyard for carrying
- Mini size fits a pocket
- Key of C only
- Reed service details not listed
- Mini body offers less to grip
Performance notes
Tone comes from the phosphor bronze reeds, which are riveted in place over the comb. The ABS comb is built to resist moisture from the player's breath. Breath control and the diatonic layout decide which blues and pop lines it plays cleanly.
