Overview
On the practice green or the course, the Evnroll Carlsbad winged mallet is a putter with a milled aluminum face that uses variable width grooves to even out distance on mishits. A connected back alignment bar and white sightline help aim.
SweetFace grooves are the reason to choose it, since they tame distance loss when contact drifts toward the heel or toe. The fixed right hand build with no custom fitting will rule out some golfers.
Who it's for
Golfers who like the stability and alignment aids of a mallet head will find a lot to work with here. Left handed players and anyone wanting a custom build should pass.
Pros and cons
- Grooved face evens out off center rolls
- Tungsten and steel weights add stability
- Alignment bar and sightline aid aim
- Milled aluminum insert with polymer backing
- Right hand only
- No custom fitting offered
- Shipped length not confirmed
- Grip size listed two different ways
Performance notes
Roll distance depends on how the face grooves handle contact away from center: narrower channels toward the heel and toe return more energy so mishits travel closer to full distance. High MOI from the milled weights resists twisting, and the toe hang suits a stroke with some arc.
