Uniden R4W Laser and Radar Detector

Overview

Not a bare-bones radar detector, this Uniden lists laser detection, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth alongside the three radar bands. Alerts arrive by voice and on an OLED display, and an app handles setup from a phone.

Band coverage is the clearest strength, and the smaller body suits a tight windshield. Camera warnings help in city driving. The listing offers no accessory list and no cable length.

Who it's for

City and highway drivers who like voice alerts and camera warnings will make use of the GPS and the app. Anyone who wants directional arrows named in the specs, or a stated accessory kit, should check a different listing.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Detection depends on the antenna and how it treats each radar band and laser. GPS lets the unit use stored locations for red light and speed cameras, so database freshness affects those alerts. The app handles settings over the phone link.
