Overview
A gamer who also watches films gets a fast self lit OLED in the LG evo, with high refresh, variable refresh and a very quick response time. The alpha nine processor upscales and tunes picture, and Multi View shows two sources at once.
High refresh OLED with variable refresh support makes console and PC games smooth while keeping film contrast. The bundled HDMI cable is an older standard, and some spec fields in the listing are clearly wrong.
Who it's for
Gamers and movie watchers in living rooms with light control get deep contrast and smooth motion. Buyers in sunlit rooms may prefer a brighter LED set.
Pros and cons
- Self lit OLED contrast
- High refresh with G-Sync and FreeSync
- Very fast response time
- Dolby Vision and Atmos
- Bundled cable is HDMI 2.0
- Some listing specs are inconsistent
- Glossy screen reflects lamps
Performance notes
Contrast comes from pixels that turn fully off, while the high refresh rate and quick pixel response keep fast motion clear. Variable refresh support syncs the screen to the console or GPU to stop tearing.
