Overview
Estes pairs two beginner rockets, the Celestial Explorer and the Prospector, with a launch pad and controller in this set. Each rocket carries a parachute recovery system and the builder assembles them before the countdown.
Rockets and launch gear arrive together, so the only extra purchase is engines. The listing shows alkaline in the battery field without saying what it powers, and the age fields disagree.
Who it's for
Parents and kids building a first pair of rockets will have what they need except engines. Flyers who already own a launch system may prefer a single rocket kit.
Pros and cons
- Two rockets in one set
- Launch pad and controller included
- Parachute recovery on both
- STEM building project
- Engines sold separately
- Battery details unclear
- Age fields disagree
Performance notes
The controller fires the engine from a safe distance, and the parachute slows each descent so the rocket can fly again. Wind and straight fins decide how true each flight goes, and the listed height depends on using Estes engines.
