Overview
Smoky blues bars and front porch sessions are the home of the Marine Band Deluxe, Hohner's updated take on its classic blues harmonica. A double coated pear wood comb cuts swelling, and bolt-on covers and plates make it easy to open for care.
Classic Marine Band tone with modern serviceability is why to buy it, plus rounded channels that feel better on the lips. A wood comb, even coated, is more sensitive to moisture than bamboo or plastic.
Who it's for
Blues harmonica players chasing the classic Marine Band sound with fewer headaches will enjoy it. Players who play very wet or want zero swelling may prefer a sealed comb.
Pros and cons
- Classic wood comb tone
- Bolt-on construction for servicing
- Rounded channels for comfort
- Thick brass plates

Performance notes
The pear wood comb gives a warm traditional tone, and the double coating limits how much it swells. Bolted plates hold a tight seal for clean bends. The plate angle and rounded openings make long sessions more comfortable.
