Overview
Four 2800mAh AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries come bundled with a 4 slot charger in this Hivevolt kit, aimed at people running battery hungry gear like cameras, game controllers and smart home sensors who want to stop buying disposable AAs.
NiMH cells at this capacity sit toward the upper end of what AA rechargeables offer, and the bundled charger doubles as a way to bring back cells that have been over discharged rather than just topping off healthy ones. The trade off with any bundled kit is that you are locked into whichever cells ship with it if one goes bad.
- 2800mAh Ni-MH AA cells, 4 count
- 4 slot charger included
- Repair mode for over discharged batteries
- Short circuit and overvoltage protection
Who it's for
Households or hobbyists cycling through AA batteries in remotes, flashlights, controllers and photography gear will get the most from a self contained charging kit like this. It is a harder sell for someone who only needs a couple of batteries a year, where the cost of a charger is hard to justify.
Pros and cons
- High 2800mAh capacity for AA cells
- Charger includes a battery repair function
- Compact enough to travel with
- Ships with only 4 batteries
Performance notes
The 4 slot charger runs at up to 2800mAh capacity per cell and includes a repair mode aimed at reviving batteries that have been drained too far, which can extend the useful life of cells that would otherwise be thrown out. Short circuit, over voltage and full charge cutoff protections are built into the charger rather than relying on the batteries alone.
