Overview
The Ring Battery Doorbell 2K is a wire-free video doorbell with a removable built-in battery, Retinal 2K video, and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom, built for a front door with no existing doorbell wiring to tap into.
This is Ring's battery-first alternative to its wired 4K Pro model, trading some resolution and zoom range for an install that needs no electrician and no existing wiring. The removal tool that pops the doorbell off the wall for charging is included, which matters since the doorbell itself has no cable port while mounted.
- Retinal 2K video with up to 6x zoom
- Built-in battery, USB-C recharge
- Live View and Two-Way Talk
- Alexa compatible for hands-free monitoring
Who it's for
Good for a renter, a door with no wiring run to it, or anyone who wants a doorbell install finished in minutes rather than an afternoon. Less suited to someone who wants zero recharging ever, or who wants Ring's sharpest available video.
Pros and cons
- Wire-free install suited to any door
- 6x zoom for checking faces or packages
- Removal tool makes recharging straightforward
- Works with Alexa devices for notifications
- Battery needs periodic removal and recharging
- USB-C cable for charging is not included
- Video history and AI alerts require Ring Protect
Performance notes
Retinal 2K video and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom cover both the wide porch view and closer inspection of a face or package, and Live View with Two-Way Talk lets you speak to a visitor from a phone in real time. The built-in battery is removed with the included tool and recharges over USB-C, though the cable itself is sold separately. Alexa integration adds custom Echo Dot notifications and hands-free video on an Echo Show, and features like scrolling back through past video sit behind a Ring Protect subscription.
