Overview
Streaming Prime Video, Netflix and free channels without a separate box is the everyday job of this Toshiba Fire TV, a full HD set with an Alexa voice remote. Direct LED backlighting and the REGZA engine tune the picture, and a game mode sharpens responsiveness.
Toshiba covers the basics well for a bedroom or kitchen: smart apps, AirPlay, Bluetooth and virtual surround sound in a light set. Resolution stops at full HD and the refresh rate is standard, so it is not built for high-end gaming or large rooms.
Who it's for
Bedrooms, kitchens and dorms that want an easy smart TV with streaming and voice control get a light, simple set. Movie fans wanting ultra HD detail or gamers needing high refresh rates should look at a higher-spec TV.
Pros and cons
- Fire TV apps built in
- Alexa voice remote
- Apple AirPlay support
- Three HDMI inputs
- Full HD only
- Standard refresh rate
Performance notes
Picture quality depends on full HD resolution processed by the REGZA engine, with direct LED backlighting for more uniform brightness. Audio uses dual speakers with DTS Virtual:X to simulate surround and height. Fire TV handles apps and live TV streaming.
