Overview
The FMR17BLKD1 is Farberware's 1.7 cu. ft. over-the-range microwave, rated at 1000W output with sensor cooking, a built-in vent fan, and a stovetop light for installing above a range. It suits anyone replacing a worn-out OTR unit who wants sensor-driven presets and a child safety lock in one appliance.
The most common early complaint is not a defect: a thick adhesive film covers the button panel out of the box and makes the controls feel stiff until it is peeled off.
- 1.7 cu. ft. interior, 1000W output / 1550W input
- Sensor cooking with auto reheat
- Time and weight defrost settings
- Child safety lock and LED display
Pros and cons
- Sensor cooking plus time and weight defrost settings
- Vent fan and stovetop light built in
- Buttons feel stiff until you peel off a hidden protective film
- Wattage varies by variant, so confirm which one you are ordering
- Fewer auto-reheat presets than some older, larger microwaves
