Fluance RT87 Reference Turntable with AT-VM95ML Cartridge

Overview

A listening room with a proper hi-fi rack is where the Fluance turntable belongs. Its motor rides on a lower plinth, isolated from the upper plinth that carries the carbon fiber tonearm and heavy acrylic platter, so vibration stays away from the stylus.

Isolation is the story: separating the motor from the tonearm and using a heavy acrylic platter both target the noise and speed wobble that blur detail. Details such as record speeds and whether a preamp is inside are missing from the listing.

Who it's for

Collectors upgrading from an entry deck get a heavier, isolated platform and a microlinear stylus that reads deep into the groove. Casual listeners after an all-in-one player with speakers should look at simpler units.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Sound clarity depends on how little motor vibration reaches the stylus, and the split plinth with isolators is built to cut that path. The heavy platter adds rotational inertia, which steadies speed and reduces wow and flutter. Fine tracking also depends on setting the tonearm height correctly.
