Overview
Not a thermal pad or a cooler, this is a paste that fills the tiny gaps between a chip and its heatsink. ARCTIC supplies it in an eight gram tube for repasting desktops, laptops, graphics cards and consoles.
The reason to buy is a generous amount of paste for several repastes and a maker known for cooling accessories. The limit is that the listing says little about thermal figures, curing or electrical properties.
Who it's for
Picture a workbench with a couple of systems that need fresh compound after a cooler swap. A buyer who wants a figure to compare, or a one-off tiny dose, may prefer another listing.
Pros and cons
- Large tube for several repastes
- Fits desktops, laptops and consoles
- Durability stated in the title
- Thermal conductivity not listed
- Applicator contents not listed
- No curing guidance
- Electrical properties not stated
Performance notes
A paste layer works only if it is thin and even, because the metal surfaces do the real conducting and the paste fills the gaps. Too much paste insulates rather than helps. Results also depend on cooler mounting pressure and the age of the old compound removed.
