Overview
A dorm room or a home gaming desk is where this Lenovo LOQ fits, pairing an AMD Ryzen processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX laptop GPU and a fast refresh full HD screen. G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus manage how the GPU drives the display.
Strong graphics for full HD gaming with upgradable memory make this a sensible gaming laptop. It weighs more than thin laptops and leans on a bulky power brick, which makes it less suited to daily carrying.
Who it's for
Full HD gaming at home, streaming and some content creation suit this laptop. Students wanting a light machine for class all day will find it heavy and power hungry.
Pros and cons
- Strong RTX graphics for full HD
- G-SYNC reduces tearing
- Memory expandable to a higher ceiling
- Webcam with privacy e-shutter
- Heavy for daily carrying
- Large charger needed for full speed
- Battery capacity not clearly listed
Performance notes
Game performance rests on the RTX GPU, while Advanced Optimus switches the display between the integrated and dedicated graphics to save power or cut latency. Current generation memory feeds the processor faster than older types. The included high wattage charger is required to sustain peak GPU output.
