Overview
The S.M.S.L AL400 is a 2.0 channel amplifier rated at 85 watts, with HDMI, optical, and USB inputs built into a silver chassis.
Having HDMI and optical alongside USB gives the AL400 more digital input options than a typical analog stereo amp, which suits a desktop or compact shelf system built around a TV or computer as the source. The 2.0 channel output keeps the unit focused on driving a pair of speakers rather than a full surround setup.
- 2.0 channel amplifier
- 85 watt power rating
- HDMI, optical, and USB connectivity
- Silver finish
Who it's for
Desktop audio or compact 2 speaker setups where digital inputs matter more than surround channels. Not a match for anyone needing multi speaker or subwoofer outputs.
Pros and cons
- HDMI, optical, and USB digital inputs
- 85 watt 2.0 channel output
- Compact form suited to desktop use
- No dimensions or weight provided in the listing data
- 2.0 channel output limits it to a stereo pair
Performance notes
At 85 watts across 2.0 channels, the amplifier is sized for near field or compact bookshelf speakers rather than large floor standing pairs. The HDMI and optical inputs allow a direct digital connection from a TV or source component, bypassing the source's internal amp.
