Overview
NETGEAR built the Nighthawk to turn a cellular signal into a private, latest-generation WiFi network for dozens of devices.
Built-in eSIM plans across many countries remove the hunt for local SIM cards when traveling. Speed and coverage still come down to the carrier signal at each location.
Who it's for
Road trippers, job sites and hotel stays get a private network that frees up the phone. People expecting fixed broadband speeds everywhere should check coverage first.
Pros and cons
- WiFi 7 support
- Global eSIM data plans
- Many devices at once
- Firewall and WPA3
- Speed depends on cellular signal
- Ethernet adapter sold separately
- Verizon certification not listed in bullets
Performance notes
The modem pulls in a cellular connection and shares it over WiFi, so the cellular link, not the WiFi, sets the real speed. A wired USB-C link avoids wireless overhead for one laptop. Battery life drops as more devices connect.
