Overview
Camp kits, gym bags and suitcases all suit the Thule Chasm Gear Cube, a large soft cube in coated tarpaulin. A compression zipper squeezes out air to shrink the load, and side handles lift it out.
Compression plus a weather-resistant shell makes it more useful than a plain fabric cube for muddy or bulky gear. Dimensions are not listed, so check that it fits the bag you plan to pack it in.
Who it's for
Outdoor trips and travel with bulky layers benefit from a cube that shrinks and wipes clean. People wanting a standalone carry bag will find only side handles here.
Pros and cons
- Compression zipper cuts packed volume
- Wipe-clean coated fabric
- Grab handles on both sides
- Recycled fabric throughout
- Outer dimensions not listed
- No shoulder strap
- Water repellent, not waterproof
Performance notes
The compression zipper pulls the two halves closer, forcing air out of soft items so the cube takes less room. Tarpaulin and coated zippers shed splashes, but the spec is water repellent, so submerged gear can still get wet.
