Overview
MINIX's CA520 pairs 1080p video with color night vision in a monitor weighing 50 grams, running on corded electric power with wireless video connectivity.
Color night vision is the notable feature here, since most baby monitors default to monochrome infrared in the dark; MINIX lists this camera as showing color rather than the usual black and white low light image. Resolution sits at 1080p, a step below the 2K seen on some competing monitors. Corded power again means the camera has to stay near an outlet.
- 1080p resolution
- Color night vision
- 50 g camera weight
- Wireless connectivity, corded power
Who it's for
Works for parents who want a color image at night rather than standard monochrome infrared. Less suited to anyone prioritizing the sharpest possible resolution or needing a battery powered camera.
Pros and cons
- Color night vision instead of standard infrared
- Lightweight 50 gram camera unit
- 1080p trails the 2K seen on other monitors
- 3.7 rating is the lowest in this group
Performance notes
1080p resolution is standard for baby monitors and should give a clear enough picture for most nurseries. The color night vision feature is what sets it apart, since it aims to preserve color detail after dark instead of switching to plain infrared. At just 50 grams the camera unit itself is light, though the listing does not specify range or audio quality.
