Leupold positions the VX-4HD between its VX-3HD and VX-5HD lines, so it carries some competition-grade features, like the ZeroLock elevation dial, without the VX-5HD price tag. Motion Sensor Technology automatically shuts the illuminated reticle off after five minutes without movement and reactivates it the instant the scope is picked back up, meant to extend battery life over a season of hunting. The CDS system lets an owner order a turret laser-marked to their specific ammunition and conditions, so ranging a target becomes a matter of dialing to a number rather than holding over.

Performance notes
