Overview
Not a memory card reader, this Quick Reader is a thumb sized SSD that plugs straight into a USB-C port. It offloads footage from compatible action cameras and works with phones, laptops and desktops without power or Wi-Fi.
Quick, cable free offloading in the field frees camera storage between shoots. Transfer speed is moderate next to larger external SSDs.
Who it's for
Travelers and action camera users get a pocket drive and weather covers in one kit. Desktop editors may want a larger, faster drive.
Pros and cons
- Tiny and very light
- No power or Wi-Fi needed
- Works with iOS and Android
- Weather covers included
- Moderate speed for an SSD
- Sticks out from the port
- Formatted capacity listed slightly differently
Performance notes
Transfer speed is set by the drive and the host port, so slower phone ports may not reach the rated speed. Direct connection removes cable loss and setup. Flash storage has no moving parts, which helps in rough use.
