Overview
Readers who want a phone that feels like an eReader get a compact Android handset with a color E Ink touchscreen, cellular data and dual cameras. Books, messaging apps and calls run on one device, lit by an adjustable front light.
Running real Android apps on a paper-like color screen is the reason to own it: reading apps, maps and chat all live on one low-glare display. E Ink redraws slowly, so video and fast scrolling feel sluggish, and the listing gives no battery capacity or network band list.
Who it's for
Long reading sessions on a commute or in bed, with messaging still within reach, are the use case here. Heavy video watchers and mobile gamers will find the slow screen refresh limiting.
Pros and cons
- Color E Ink screen with adjustable front light
- Full Android app store access
- Cellular data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in
- Protective case included in the box
- Battery capacity and network bands not listed
- E Ink refresh limits video and gaming
- Short one-year warranty
- Small screen for PDFs and comics
Performance notes
E Ink panels redraw by moving pigment particles, so page turns look crisp while animation and video lag. Color E Ink shows muted tones, which suits book covers and charts more than photos. Battery life depends mostly on cellular radio use, since a static page draws little power.

Frequently asked questions
Can I install Android apps on the Bigme HiBreak S Color?
Yes. It runs Android 14 and the listing names app store integration, so reading, messaging and map apps install as on any Android phone.
Is the Bigme HiBreak S Color screen good for video?
It uses a color E Ink display, which refreshes far slower than an LCD or OLED panel. Text reads well, but video plays poorly.
