Overview
The Sea SS44-80 is an 80-pound-test nylon monofilament line spooled to 510 feet and weighing 4.64 ounces including the spool.
At 80 pounds test this sits toward the heavy end of monofilament line, more suited to bigger species or as leader material than to light spinning setups. The 510-foot spool length allows for several respools on a standard reel.
- Line weight: 80 lb test
- Material: nylon monofilament
- Spool length: 510 feet
- Weight: 4.64 ounces
Who it's for
Anglers targeting larger, harder-fighting fish who want a heavy mono for line or leader duty. Not a match for light-tackle fishing that calls for a thinner, lower-test line.
Pros and cons
- Heavy 80 lb test suited to big fish
- 510 ft spool covers multiple respools
- Too thick and stiff for light spinning tackle
- Color listed only as multi, not a specific shade
Performance notes
Nylon monofilament stretches under load, which absorbs headshakes from bigger fish and tends to hold up to abrasion better than braid at the same diameter. At 80 pounds test the line runs thick, so it suits larger reels and heavier rods rather than compact spinning gear.
