Overview
The Viper is Champion Sports' training-grade soccer ball, built in size 4 for players roughly 8 to 12 years old. A 4-ply TPU cover and machine-stitched panels are aimed at gym classes and rec-league practice rather than club-level match play.
Champion Sports positions this as a practice ball, not a match ball, and the size 4 spec bears that out: it sits a step below the regulation size 5 used in adult and older-youth competition. The air-lock butyl bladder favors air retention over the springier feel some players chase, and like most balls in this group it ships flat, so a pump is a same-day purchase.
- Size 4 TPU training ball
- Ages 8 to 12
- Machine-stitched panels
- Air-lock butyl bladder
Who it's for
Best suited to coaches, PE teachers, and parents outfitting a child around age 8 to 12 for backyard practice, drills, or gym class. Adult or club players who need a regulation size 5 match ball should look elsewhere in the Champion Sports lineup.
Pros and cons
- Sized for the 8-12 practice age group
- Machine-stitched panels for repeated indoor and outdoor use
- Butyl bladder holds air between sessions
- Ships deflated with no pump included
- Size 4 is not a regulation match ball
Performance notes
The 4-ply TPU cover is built to survive repeated kicking, juggling, and gym-floor contact without the panels separating. The air-lock butyl bladder is the part that determines how often it needs re-inflating between practices; butyl holds air longer than the cheaper latex bladders some rivals use, at some cost to bounce liveliness.
